We did the food and cake tastings this past week. The food was absolutely delicious. We’ve decided on one hors d’oeurve and we’re going to see how the other two price out. We’ll have a steak choice (filet mignon cooked medium), a chicken in red pepper sauce choice, and a salmon choice. All three were absolutely delicious.
The wedding cake will be an amaretto cake with almonds (so nobody with nut allergies are allowed near it). =) It will be iced with buttercream and then topped with fondant. The bakery’s fondant was great! In my experience, fondant usually doesn’t taste very good, but this place’s recipe was great. Jeremy’s groom’s cake will be a chocolate Kahlua cake. That too was yummy.
I also bought my veil!!! I want to say it’s one of a kind, but I know it’s not. However, I’ve never seen anyone else wear a veil quite like this one. Unfortunately, nobody thought to take any pictures of my veil shopping experience, and let me say, it was an experience. We went to a specialty veil studio, and I swear I never realized just how many different styles of veils there were. When they were hanging, they all looked exactly the same. They were apparently all different. We were there for two hours trying on veils with the lady. It was definitely fun though because she would put on the veils, and then I would have to model it for everyone. Now, all I have to do is go try the veil on with my dress and see how everything looks together!!!

I bought my dress this weekend! Okay, so my parents really bought it, but I’m excited!
Jeremy has also tentatively booked the DJ. They’re going to send us the contract in the mail for us to look at. Then, once we pay the deposit, we’ll have it booked.
Therefore, after the tastings next month, we’ll be totally done. We’ve got some turmoil going on within the WP, but we’ll have that worked out.

We’re really excited! We discussed honeymoon options with my mom this morning. Jeremy won’t let me say anything about it until he talks to my mom again, but I’m really excited! I’ll keep everyone updated when Jeremy finally lets me tell people. =)

We talked to a DJ this weekend. They had originally quoted $600 but when we met them, they said $800. We’re going to have to get them to clarify that. Otherwise, I think we liked them. However, we’re going to interview some more people this week and then make a decision.
We did pick out the tuxes though. We went to Men’s Warehouse. The tux for the Jeremy will look like this. The tuxes for the groomsmen will look like this. The fathers’ tuxes along with the vocalist’s tux will look like this. Of course, everyone will be wearing ties. I just couldn’t get the website to display the royal vest with the matching royal tie. I’ll send out rental information in the next couple of weeks.
Other than that, we’re going to finish the invites soon now that my mom has also seen the mock invites.

Going to Dallas this weekend to get more wedding stuff done. We’re hoping to interview a couple of DJs while we’re there. If we like one, we’ll probably hire him. I also need to get on the florist thing. We’ve decided on April, and all I need to do is fill out the contract and send it to her. We have our next counseling session with the pastor and his wife also. I think we need to talk to him about maybe combining two sessions. After this month, I don’t think both Jeremy and I will be in Dallas at the same time until March. I am also hoping to get the tuxes worked out this weekend. Maybe I’m being way too optimistic about what we can and can’t accomplish. These planning weekends are always so tiring.
On the girls’ side of things, Stephanie is coming up the next weekend! We’re going to go look at wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses. Yea shopping!

Note to self: When printing cardstock on a laser printer, print 1 page at a time. Otherwise, the toner will not dry fast enough on the paper or the rollers and you will get transfer. It’s a good thing we bought a ream of 250 sheets of cardstock. I’m going to have to reprint about 8 sheets or the Save the Date cards.

We went and registered at Target tonight. Jeremy had a great time this time. He got to register for all the “toys” that he hopes people will get him. This registry is totally our fun registry. There are some things that are more “registry appropriate,” but I figure I already won when I wouldn’t let him register for milk. =)

We showed our Save-the-Date mockups to Jeremy’s mom and Jim tonight, and everyone agrees on the color of card stock. I’m going to go some time in the near future to buy the paper. I had forgotten that we got 2 15% off coupons to xepdex. We are hoping to get these out to our family and wedding party by the middle of October.

I got most of the photo card box for the gift table finished. All I need to do now is make the top and the bottom. Once that is done, I’ll have to find pictures for the frames. The box turned out a little bigger than I first expected. Anyways, here are a couple of pictures that Jeremy took of the progress.
